About Newcastle Quayside- The Quayside stretches along the River Tyne and is a great place for scenic strolls, bike rides, sightseeing or a meal/drinks. The Baltic Art Gallery and Sage Gateshead are located on the south side of the river. In the past the Quayside served as a commercial dockside. Via the Victoria Tunnels coal was ferried down to the Quayside. In the early 200’s after much of the industry moved on the area underwent a huge regeneration and has since become a North East Hub of Arts and Culture. There are fantastic views along the Quayside including the Tyne Bridge and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
